Club President Jeff Browne has tonight penned a letter to Collingwood Members after the Club announced it had broken its all-time membership record, surpassing last season’s figure of 100, 384 Members.

The full letter is below:

Dear Magpie Army,

I am pleased to announce we have today broken our Club’s all-time Membership record and wanted to express our deep gratitude to the 101,954 supporters (and counting) who have signed up as Collingwood Members this year.

It is a truly incredible achievement and we thank each Member for your unmatched dedication and loyalty to the black-and-white.

Our Members are like no other and we thank you for continuing to show up whenever and wherever we play across the country.

Over 1,000,000 fans have attended our games this year and over 10.7 million people have watched Collingwood matches on TV, making us the most-attended and most-watched team in the AFL competition.

We love our Club and we love the way our team continues to perform on the field but it is important to acknowledge the key role our Members have played off it in our season so far.

We often refer to the Magpie Army as our 19th player because it is true. It is one thing to sign up as a Member and another to attend matches and to cheer and chant as we encourage our team on to an often-nail-biting victory.

I want to especially thank every Member who resides outside Victoria for your unwavering commitment and support of our Club. While we don’t play in every State and Territory each season, the support from Collingwood Members across Australia and internationally does not go unnoticed and we will continue to work towards building a stronger connection with you into the future.

Collingwood has always been more than a football club. It is a big family and this milestone highlights the strength of our community and is something we should all be proud of.

Our Club is also thrilled to share that nearly 1600 supporters have already joined as AFLW Members for the upcoming season which kicks off at the start of September and we encourage more members of the Magpie Army to get behind our women in black and white. There is a great energy amongst the W program and with Bri Davey announced as our Captain this week, we are gearing up for a strong and successful campaign.

On behalf of the Board, staff and athletes, we thank all Members for their commitment so far in 2023.

Go the Pies!

Jeff Browne
Collingwood President
