*Please note that Macaffer's injury was sustained to his left knee, not his right knee as previously stated.
Scans have confirmed that Collingwood forward Brent Macaffer suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during the opening round of the NAB Cup in Blacktown on Saturday night.
Macaffer will meet with the surgeon this evening to discuss the surgery and rehabilitation process.
The 23-year-old played four AFL games in an injury-interrupted 2011 season, after being a crucial member of the Magpies’ 2010 premiership success.
He made his debut in 2009 and has played 30 matches after originally being drafted from the Gippsland Power in the 2006 Rookie Draft.
