Collingwood has informed Sophie Casey, Joanna Lin, Imogen Evans and Olivia Barber that they will not be offered contracts for the 2024 AFLW season.

A Collingwood foundation player, Casey made her debut for the Pies in the inaugural AFLW match in 2017.

Across eight seasons, the 32-year-old defender made 63 appearances in the black and white.

Drafted to Collingwood with pick 26 in the 2020 AFLW Draft, Lin played 21 games for the Pies across four seasons.

The 21-year-old midfielder was limited to four games this year due to a foot injury.

Arriving at Collingwood in 2022, Evans played six games across her two seasons.

Barber, who was traded to Collingwood from Geelong ahead of season seven in 2022, made four appearances across two campaigns as a Magpie.

Collingwood’s Head of Women’s Football Jess Burger thanked the four players for their contributions.

“On behalf of the Club, I’d like to thank Sophie, Joanna, Imogen and Olivia for their dedication to our program,” Burger said.

“Whilst it is always hard to see people depart our program, all four players have brought something unique to our Club which we’re grateful for.

“A special thank you to Sophie who debuted in the Club’s first ever game. She will leave a lasting legacy as inaugural player who epitomised our Side By Side Club value consistently across her seven years at Collingwood.

“Joanna and Imogen have shown great development within our environment and the pair consistently demonstrated a team-first mentality.

“Olivia brought great energy to our program and unfortunately a number of setbacks hindered her ability to be a regular contributor on field.

“We wish the four women all the best for their future endeavours.”

The 2023 AFLW Trade Period began on Thursday, December 7 and will run until Thursday, December 14. The 2023 AFLW Draft will be held on Monday, December 18.
