Round 19

Collingwood Coach Craig McRae has named the Magpies’ extended squad for Sunday’s Round 19 clash with Fremantle at the MCG on Sunday afternoon.

Forward Beau McCreery will return to the team after the 24-year-old experienced hamstring awareness in the Pies' Round 15 win over St Kilda.

Forward Brody Mihocek, midfielder Patrick Lipinski and defender Charlie Dean have also been named to return.

Mihocek and Lipinski come back into team after the pair were rested for last week’s clash with Gold Coast.

Defenders Jeremy Howe and Dan Houston (injury) and forward Tim Membrey (managed) will miss the clash.

McRae said it will be challenging to cover the loss of Howe and Houston in defence against the Dockers.

“Our backline has been pretty stable most of the year,” McRae said.

“Howe has been incredible for us this year, and then Dan is playing a pivotal role for us.

“We’ve got to find the magnets to replace them … We might try something different.”

In partnership with Coles, Collingwood will welcome 500 of Melbourne's most vulnerable by bringing the Magpie Nest Cafe to the 'G for a warm meal on Sunday afternoon for the Pies’ clash with Fremantle.

The Magpie Nest Cafe is the first point of call for many people in Melbourne experiencing homelessness.  The Cafe provides free breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as wrap around services to people from all walks of life.

Run by Project 614 and supported by Collingwood, the Magpie Nest Cafe is more than a place to share a meal – it’s a space where people come every day in search of food, a moment of comfort and a sense of belonging.

Last year, the Magpie Nest Cafe provided over 104,000 free meals to people across our community – enough to fill the MCG.

Over the week leading up to Sunday's match against Fremantle, the club and community will be coming together to raise funds for the Cafe to help continue providing meals, warmth, and support to those doing it tough in our community.

Every contribution — big or small — will go directly towards making a real difference in the lives of people who rely on the wrap around services provided at the Cafe.

The final team, including three emergencies, will be selected from the extended squad and named at 5pm on Friday.

The tactical substitution will be selected from the bench and will be named 60 minutes before the first bounce.

Collingwood fans can watch the game live on Channel 7, Fox Footy and kayosports.com.au, with the first bounce at 3:15pm (AEST).
