AFLW Senior Coach Sam Wright has named his extended squad to face West Coast, with first year Pie Georgia Knight confirmed to make her AFLW debut.
Knight, who was selected with pick 26 in the 2024 AFLW draft from the Eastern Ranges, will be the Club’s fourth AFLW debutant of the season.
The dangerous forward brings an impressive junior career resume, having kicked 27 goals in 16 games in the Coates Talent League, which also includes a five-goal haul at national level for Vic Metro under the roof at Marvel Stadium in their 33-point win over Vic Country.
Named alongside Knight in the extended squad is fellow 2024 signing Kellyann Hogan, who will potentially be named to play for the first time since recovering from shoulder surgery after sustaining an injury in her Round 1 debut.
After missing last week’s clash to the Bulldogs to a knee injury sustained against the Hawks, Kalinda Howarth has also been named in the extended squad, as too does Captain Ruby Schleicher, who was a test after copping a knock to her thigh against the Bulldogs.
First year winger Violet Patterson will be managed for the clash, while Nell Morris-Dalton and Alana Porter have been omitted.
Sunday will be the Pies’ first official interstate clash of 2025, and the first clash in the state of Western Australia since Collingwood’s 29-point win over Fremantle in their season 7.
Collingwood’s final team selection including emergencies will be announced on Friday 3 October at 5:00pm (AEST).
