The Collingwood Football Club is saddened to learn of the passing of former board member David Galbally AM KC.

Appointed in 1974, Galbally was a Director of Collingwood for eight years.

During his tenure, Galbally actively engaged in player welfare and provided valued non-football support and guidance to Collingwood players and staff.

For five decades Galbally provided honorary legal advice to the Club and had been a reliable resource to Club administrators and board members.

In 2023 Galbally's contribution to Collingwood was recognised with Life Membership.

Galbally, and the whole Galbally family, have been an important part of Collingwood and the Club extends its sincere condolences to David’s family and friends at this time.

Please find below the family’s statement.

We are deeply saddened to share that David Galbally AM KC has passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family.

David was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose integrity, compassion, and sharp mind left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. Beyond his distinguished career in law, he was deeply committed to his community and to helping others find justice and fairness.

A proud Collingwood man through and through, David was a Life Member of the Collingwood Football Club and gave so much of himself to the club he loved. His passion for Collingwood, and the friendships and community that came with it, were an enduring part of his life.

The family thanks Collingwood for the support it has given the family and the life memories and experiences the club has provided the family.

We thank the club and its supporters for the part they played in his life.

Our family is incredibly proud of his many achievements and the legacy he leaves behind. We thank all who have shared in his journey.
