Collingwood AFLW Senior Coach Sam Wright has named the Magpies’ extended squad for Sunday’s Round 9 clash with St Kilda, with Captain Ruby Schleicher amongst the inclusions.
Schleicher, who was a late out against the Eagles after sustaining a knock to the thigh in the Pies’ Round 7 clash with the Bulldogs, will undergo assessment.
It comes as 23-year-old midfielder Carly Remmos had been ruled out of Sunday’s clash at RSEA Park following an injury to her SC joint against the Eagles in Round 8.
After being managed in Round 8, 2024 father-daughter draftee Violet Patterson has been included on the extended bench alongside Annie Lee, Alana Porter, Georgia Clark, and Selena Karlson.
Mikayla Hyde and Muireann Atkinson have been omitted.
While this weekend will serve as the first week of the AFLW’s Pride Round – which for the first time in competition history will run over two weeks – Sunday will provide even more cause for celebration as inaugural Pie Brit Bonnici prepares to run out for her 75th AFLW game.
Recording career best numbers in her 10th AFLW season, the 28-year-old midfielder has been a stalwart in Collingwood’s AFLW side since the competition’s inception in 2017 and will be the third Collingwood AFLW player to reach the milestone following Sabrina Frederick and Stacey Livingstone in 2024.
The final team including three emergencies will be named at 5pm on Friday.
Collingwood fans can watch the game live on Fox Footy and kayosports.com.au, with the first bounce at 3:05pm (AEST).
