Tim Broomhead will make his first appearance for 2016 when Collingwood meets West Coast at Domain Stadium on Sunday.

The 22-year-old is averaging 22.0 disposals in the VFL this season, collecting 30 against the Casey Scorpions a fortnight ago. On that afternoon, he also returned 10 clearances and six tackles, a collection followed up with a further 20 disposals against Essendon last Saturday.

Broomhead has not appeared at senior level since round 15 last season, when he injured his shoulder against Port Adelaide.

His shoulders haven't been kind to him in recent times. A knock to the shoulder in the opening match of the NAB Challenge put his hopes of a round one berth on the backburner, sidelining him for more than a month.

The South Australian is one of three inclusions to Sunday's team.

First-choice defenders Tom Langdon (knee) and Ben Sinclair (concussion) bounce back after a week on the sidelines. The pair will bolster a backline that will need to contend with Josh Kennedy, Jack Darling, Mark LeCras and Josh Hill, among others.

They replace the injured Travis Varcoe (hamstring) and Taylor Adams, who withdrew from Sunday's squad due to a knee complaint.

Recruit James Aish has been omitted.
