Collingwood’s AFL and VFL teams have go down in clashes with Geelong over the weekend.
Proceedings started at Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon as the VFL match kicked off in wet conditions.
A three-goal opening term had the Pies in the hunt, while they were only 11 points in arrears at the main break after a competitive first half.
Geelong took control of the contest in the third term however, kicking five majors and keeping the Pies goalless to extend their lead.
The fourth term was all the Cats too, as they eventually ran out 61-point winners.
Despite the loss, young key forward Charlie West continued to show he is trending in the right direction, with another bag of four goals.
Midfielders Sam Swadling (33 touches) and Ed Allan (32 touches) continued their strong starts to the season as well, while defender Jakob Ryan collected 24 disposals.
Third-year utility Harry DeMattia racked up 21 touches in his first game of 2026 having overcome a back issue that kept him out of the start of the season.
Later in the day, it was the AFL game that took centre stage at the MCG.
Unfortunately for the Pies, a similar script to the VFL contest ensued, with an even first half turning into a comfortable Geelong victory.
The Pies trailed by just 10 points at half time and could have been in front if not for inaccurate goal-kicking, however a red-hot start to the third quarter saw the Cats race away with their lead.
They would put on a 11-goal to four second half to set up a 54-point win.
Jordan De Goey was at his damaging best for the black and white, earning Craig McRae’s Coach’s MVP nod on the back of 30 disposals and 11 score involvements.
Dan McStay was solid up forward with three majors, while Jack Crisp’s 28 touches were important.
Both of the Pies’ sides now travel to Sydney for games against the Swans on Friday.
