First-year Magpie Sam Swadling will make his AFL debut this Saturday night when Collingwood takes on Port Adelaide.

The 19-year-old was taken with pick 37 in last year's national Draft and has impressed at VFL level in his first season at the Club so far in 2026.

The midfielder is averaging 27 disposals in the second tier competition, having amassed 240 disposals across nine games so far. His best performance came in Round 7 against the Sydney Swans, collecting 40 disposals and kicking a goal.

He'll now step onto the MCG for the first time in a crucial clash for the Pies' September hopes against the 15th-placed Power.

The Western Australian has been a great addition to the Club's young stocks, possessing brilliant poise and speed.

The news was announced in a team meeting early on Thursday morning, as Coach Craig McRae challenged Swadling to a football world cup inspired activity.

The Round 15 matchup comes following the Pies bye, with the team's ledger sitting at five wins, seven losses and a draw.

Saturday night footy awaits as we kick off Magpie Nest at the ‘G and take on Port Adelaide under the lights at the ‘G. We need the entire Magpie Army behind us for this blockbuster clash. Get your tickets here.
