11 new faces are set to feature in Collingwood’s first official practice match of 2026 as the Pies take on the Eagles at Mineral Resources Park on Friday afternoon.

Former North Melbourne tall and off-season recruit Ari Hetherington has been named, as too has former Melbourne father-daughter Jemma Rigoni.

Fellow recruit Charlotte Brewer, who spent 2025 on Collingwood’s VFLW list before heading to Carlton’s AFLW program as an injury replacement player, will don her grandfather and former Pie Ross Brewer’s number 20 guernsey.

Cross-coders Maisie Nankivell and Liv Lewis will also feature in the clash, with the latter getting the opportunity to play in front of her home state of Western Australia.

The Pies’ first pick in the 2025 AFLW Draft, Imogen Trengove will play her first pre-season minutes in the Friday afternoon clash after the 19-year-old missed the first two match simulation sessions of the pre-season.

Joining Trengove is fellow draftees Amy Smith, Mischa Barwin, Zara Neuwirth and Josie Bamford, with the young Pies getting their opportunity to showcase their talents before the season officially begins in Collingwood’s Round 1 opener on 15 August.

Mattea Breed, the former Hawk who spent her first season in the black and white on the sidelines as she dealt with a knee injury, will also make her highly anticipated appearance in the Eagles clash as she continues to build her minutes.

Along with the new faces set to feature for the Pies for the first time, the Magpie Army will also get the opportunity to welcome back Bri Davey, with the former Captain also set for minutes as she continues to build herself up after returning from an ankle injury that saw her miss all of season 2025.

Friday’s clash with West Coast will be Collingwood’s first full dress rehearsal on the eve of the 2026 season, with the first two match simulation sessions against Carlton and reigning Premiers North Melbourne showing promising signs from AFLW Senior Coach Sam Wright’s young, new-look side.
