Midfielder Ed Allan's breakout season has been rewarded with selection in the AFL Players Association's 22 Under 22 squad for 2026.

The fourth-year Magpie has enjoyed the most fruitful campaign of his burgeoning career, pulling on the black and white stripes for 15 senior games so far.

He has steadily grown into one of the side's most important players, often lining up on the opposition's most dangerous mids, while also winning his own ball.

Averaging 15.4 disposals, 4.8 tackles and kicking three goals as of Round 22, the 22-year-old is building strongly as the Pies look to secure a finals berth. 

Allan was taken with pick 19 in the 2022 National Draft, arriving from Western Australia. As the son of former Hawthorn and Fremantle player Ben, the smooth-moving midfielder emerged throughout his draft year as first round pick. 

He would have to wait until 2024 to make his debut, fittingly heading over to WA to take on the Dockers for his first game. He now sits at 30 career games and with a long career ahead, hoping to cap off the early stages with his maiden selection in the 22 Under 22 side.

The final team will be announced on Wednesday 19 August.
