Four new Pies are set to be unleashed this Saturday, with Mattea Breed, Ariana Hetherington, Jemma Rigoni and Dom Carbone to make their Club debuts in Collingwood’s Round 1 AFLW clash on Saturday.
Breed, who joined Collingwood during the 2024 trade and draft period via a trade with Hawthorn, will finally don the black and white after a knee injury kept her on the inactive list in her maiden Collingwood season.
Joining Breed is former North Melbourne is tall utility Hetherington, who has quickly impressed since joining the Pies in the off-season.
Measuring at 179cm, Hetherington has shown this pre-season she can be a threat in the air or at ground level no matter where she’s placed on the ground, whether as a key forward, ruck or key back.
Former Melbourne father-daughter selection Rigoni will create her own legacy in the black and white on Saturday night when she too makes her Club debut.
Rigoni, who made her AFLW debut last season for the Demons and played eight games throughout the season, will be a welcomed inclusion with her signature speed and pin-point accurate kicking.
Rounding out Collingwood’s Club debutants is Carbone, who joined the Pies just three weeks ago as an injury replacement player.
Signed from Collingwood’s VFLW side, where she served as Captain for the last two seasons, Carbone played nine games this VFLW season and proved she is a threat in the middle and up forward, averaging 23 disposals and six tackles while also kicking 11 goals throughout the season.
Collingwood’s full team to face Richmond will be released at 6:20pm AEST on Thursday.
