Collingwood welcomes back premiership defender Nathan Brown and 20-year-old Tom Young for its Sunday twilight clash with the Gold Coast at the MCG.

Star defender Heath Shaw (calf) and youngster Lachlan Keeffe (knee) will both miss with injury.

Cameron Wood, Paul Seedsman and Kirk Ugle have been named as the three emergencies.

Shaw, who has played seven matches this season, will miss due to a calf injury.

“Heath pulled up sore from the game over in Adelaide", said Director of Football Geoff Walsh.

“He will miss this week with a calf injury and we will assess him mid next week to evaluate his status ahead of the Monday game against Melbourne.”

Reliable full back Nathan Brown returns to the line up after missing the past two matches due to a moderate strain to his medial ligament in his left knee against the Brisbane Lions.

Brown replaces the 204cm Keeffe who will miss the remainder of the 2012 season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in the last quarter of Collingwood’s win over Adelaide last week.

The improvement in Keeffe’s game was illustrated on Wednesday night when it was announced on The Club that he had signed a new contract to remain at Collingwood for the next two years.

The 23-year-old will be extra keen to make his mark after he missed the entire 2011 season through a knee injury. He returned against Essendon on ANZAC Day and didn’t appear to have missed a beat, holding Bombers star Stewart Crameri goal less.

Young is in his second season on the list and has been on the fringe of selection for some time. The winner of the Joseph Wren Trophy as the club's best VFL player in 2010, Young has been named as an emergency in six of a possible eight games.

He was named as the VFL team’s best in the memorable win over Port Melbourne earlier this month.

Recap this week's episode of The Club.

Gold Coast have omitted ruckman Zac Smith, while Seb Tape has been rested and Jeremy Taylor sidelined by a quad injury.

The Suns have a strong Collingwood connection, with former Pies Danny Stanley (five games; 2007-2009) and Sam Iles (7 games, 2006-2007) named in their team for Sunday. Their coach Guy McKenna was an assistant to Mick Malthouse in 2004-2007, and midfield coach Shane O'Bree played over 200 games for the Magpies in the 2000s.
