Son of a gun Tyler Brown will debut for Collingwood in Friday night's clash against the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium.
Coach Nathan Buckley said on Wednesday that his side was preparing to play, having not been told otherwise by the AFL before an official announcement was made.

Shortened quarters and use of an extended bench were also on the cards in the event round one proceeds and the players are required to back up off a shortened break into round two.
Buckley informed Brown, the son of Pies great Gavin, on Wednesday morning he would play alongside older brother Callum who has 35 games under his belt for the club.
"It's probably the weirdest way to play your first game if it happens," Buckley said on Wednesday afternoon.
Jaidyn Stephenson (hand) and Taylor Adams (hip) have recovered from injury and look destined to play after training with the AFL squad for the two-hour session.
Defenders John Noble and Jack Madgen, midfielder Rupert Wills and forward Josh Daicos also trained alongside the AFL regulars
Ben Reid, Isaac Quaynor, Braydon Sier and Darcy Cameron trained in a 'B' squad who completed a longer session with no VFL practice matches scheduled for at least the next six weeks.
Adam Treloar (hamstring) won't be available and completed running alongside Travis Varcoe, Matt Scharenberg and Nathan Murphy.
