The club’s first pick from the recent AFL Draft, Steele Sidebottom, will wear number 22, made famous by some of the greatest ever Magpies including Tony Shaw, Bob Rose and John Greening.
Dayne Beams, who was selected with the club’s second pick at the November 29 draft, will wear number 17 on the back of his new adidas guernsey, a number worn from 1995-2008 by former captain and club great Scott Burns, and donned for 10 years by team of the century wingman Thorold Merrett.
Promising young midfielder John McCarthy has changed from number 27, which he wore in his debut season in 2008, to number three, while Tyson Goldsack has moved from number 38 to number six.
New Magpie Jarrad Blight will wear McCarthy’s former number 27, while Blight’s fellow draftee Luke Rounds has been given number 37.
Anthony Corrie, who was acquired from Brisbane during the October trade period, will wear number 14, former Kangaroo Leigh Brown, the 73rd overall pick from the draft, will wear number 15, and recently promoted former rookie Brent Macaffer has changed from number 45 to number 30.
Former New South Wales scholarship holder and 2009 rookie-list player Scott Reed will wear number 38, while Queenslander Lachlan Keeffe, who will also be on the rookie list, will wear number 44.
