Collingwood's Leon Davis, the first Indigenous player to play 200 games as a Magpie, has donated his boots to the AFL's Boots and Dreams Exhibition to tour around Melbourne over the month of September.

The boots have been painted by Indigenous artist David Williams who describes the pieces as, "Black and white, the proud magpie takes flight from Nyoongar country to Melbourne. The fine shapely pattern on Leon’s boots represent the magpie's quick darting movement."

The entire exhibition includes boots worn by past and present Indigenous AFL players, including Davis and AFL legend Michael Long.

The auction will raise funds for the AFL Foundation’s various Indigenous programs.

In 2010 there are 84 Indigenous players listed with AFL clubs. This represents 11 per cent of the entire playing group.
