Collingwood Football Club President Eddie McGuire said on Friday night that whilst he was disappointed CEO Greg Swann had decided to leave, his departure would cause “barely a ripple” given the unity and strength of the club and the extensive resources already in place.

“I want to assure everyone associated with the club, in particular our members, corporate partners and supporters that everything is in readiness for the season ahead. There is no club in the country as well resourced and managed as Collingwood. All our plans for the future are in place and our board is united and strong. We have a highly professional administration led by three extremely experienced executives at the club in Eugene Arocca, David Emerson and Geoff Walsh who will ensure that we don’t miss a beat.

“It is no surprise that Carlton is trying to emulate our business model, but Collingwood will continue to grow and forge ahead as the biggest and most professional sporting club in Australia. We see this as an opportunity now to go to the next level and we will canvass the world for the best person to help lead the club forward.

“It is going to be an exciting year and we look forward to the start of the season with great optimism and high expectations.”
