The campaign is designed to register every living former player to entitle them to health and wellbeing benefits.
Those on hand included Magpie duo James Clement and Peter Daicos, two players who have supported the AFLPA since their retirements.
“It’s important get the message out to past players that they are entitled to some assistance,” 1990 premiership player Peter Daicos told collingwoodfc.com.au.
“The bigger we can build the following the greater benefits these players will be entitled to.”
Daicos has also thrown his support behind The Heart of Collingwood Past Players’ Association. Last month he attended a night honouring Copeland Trophy winners with all proceeds donated to the fund.
“It’s great to see support for past players come from the club and league level.
“The more awareness and action we can take, the stronger the program will become.”
Daicos and Clement joined former players Bob Skilton (three-time Brownlow medalist for South Melbourne), Simon Madden (378 for Essendon), and Michael Roach (200 games for Richmond).“Currently we have 1500 members out of an estimate 5000 past living players,” Brendan Gale the CEO of the AFLPA said at today’s launch.
“The purpose of today is to find the remaining 3,500 players to come and join the association and enjoy the benefits of membership and get on board.”
