MRI scans have revealed that Brad Dick has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and will undergo surgery on Thursday.
Dick, 22, injured his right knee during Collingwood’s match against the Casey Scorpions in the VFL on Saturday afternoon.
Collingwood Football Club’s director of football, Geoff Walsh said that Dick would undergo surgery this week.
“An MRI scan has revealed that Brad Dick has ruptured ACL; he will have standard reconstruction surgery on Thursday to repair the ligament”.
Dick has played 27 games and booted 32 goals for Collingwood since debuting in round three of the 2007 season.
Recruited from East Fremantle (WA), the small forward was Collingwood’s third round selection, number 44 overall in the 2006 draft.
He returned in round five this year after undergoing a shoulder reconstruction in 2010 and has played three senior games this season.
Dick has suffered four serious injuries since beginning his career with Collingwood. A knee injury in the 2008 preseason forced Dick to miss the entire season. He returned in 2009 to play 16 senior games before injuring his shoulder at the end of that season.
Dick returned to the senior side in round 12, 2010 where he kicked four goals before he reinjured the troublesome shoulder the next week and underwent his second shoulder reconstruction in the space of eight months.
