It's only January but the Magpie Army was out in force with over 100 spectators looking on.

The assistant coaches took the lead with head coach Mick Malthouse, fresh from vacation, looking on with eager eyes.

Skills and touch were highlighted in all four drills with players working at a high tempo before rotating to the next station.

The training session moved on to full ground work with teams donning red and black gunerseys.

Alex Fasolo, the club's first overall pick in last year's draft, enjoyed the tight play moving the ball with ease by hand.

Also impressing through the midfield was Jarryd Blair, who looks to have added some pace to his game over the offseason.  One of the biggest success stories to come out of the grand final win, Blair was making his opponents work hard to stay on their feet.
