Collingwood diminutive midfielder, Josh Daicos has been named in the AFL Players Association's 22Under22 team.

As voted by the fans, Daicos is named in the team’s forward line.

The 21-year-old was drafted to Collingwood with pick 57 in 2016 under the father-son rule being the prodigy of club legend, Peter Daicos.

He went on to make his debut in round 22 against Geelong in 2017.

Daicos’ selection in this year’s Under 22 team affirms his status as a star on the rise having played 16 matches averaging 17.8 disposals with 74 percent efficiency throughout the season so far.

About the 22Under22 Team

22Under22 is a fan-voted concept that recognises the best 22 players aged 22 and under for the entirety of the season.

The concept was first introduced in 2013 to reward the young players who make an impact on their club and the competition so early in their careers.

How voting works

– The AFL Players’ Board selects a squad of 40 players

– Fans then have the opportunity to decide the final 22 by voting on the AFLPA website

– The fan whose team is the best match for the final team wins a prize

– Players selected in the final team are presented with 22Under22 jumper
