Tall midfielder, Caleb Poulter is set to make his AFL debut against the Suns on Saturday afternoon.

Hailing from Woodville-West Torrens, the 18-year-old was drafted to Collingwood with pick 30 in the 2020 Draft.

Coach Nathan Buckley challenged Poulter to a basketball shootout after Wednesday’s main training session, with the prize being a spot in this week’s team.

“You’ve come in and had a good crack. You’ve got a lot of talent; your ball use is exceptional,” Buckley said.

“But what you’ve shown us is capacity to play a role… that wing role really suits you.

“We’re looking forward to seeing what you can bring.”

Poulter will be the Magpies’ fifth debutant this season. His call up to the senior team comes as a reward for a standout performance in the VFL last week.

A good tackler with lean hands as well as a penetrating left-kick, Poulter can do damage both inside and outside.

Collingwood’s full team for Round Seven will be announced on Friday evening.
