“Blair” - September Action
Posted: Saturday 3 July, 10:55 PM (bigfooty.com.au)

So how did he go?

Was stuck watching "Curb Your Enthusiasm" with my wife! Pretty funny mind you but no 83 point smashing of the Weagles.

He certainly did nothing wrong tonight. Looked very tough and hard around the packs which was what we all expected. He may be squeezed out of the side next week, but definitely did enough to indicate he has not played his last game of senior AFL football.

“Did not see the game but have seen that bit of play 3 times today due to Jolly kicking that goal. The pleasing part was that despite running himself into trouble he still had prescence of mind to get the handball off cleanly.

Also loved Maxwell describing him on radio pre-game as 'aardvark-like'!”

The real issue here is the OP.

You didn't watch the footy because you watched some TV show with the mrs?

**** that.

“Our best 22 heading into the finals??” - WEARECOLLINGWOOD!?
Posted: Monday 5 July, 1:41 PM??

We have some amazing depth, the best I have seen at the club in 33 years..
There are some huge decisions to make in the coming weeks & we need to settle soon with our 22 heading into our finals campaign.

Here is my team:
B: Toovey Presti Maxwell?
HB: O'Brien Reid Shaw?
C: Thomas Swan Johnson?
HF: Didak Cloke Beams
F:  Davis Dawes Dick
Foll:  Jolly Ball Pendelbury

Inter: Fraser Sidebottom Wellingham Lockyer

*Fraser gets the nod ahead of Brown/wood, as Brown isn't a high possession getter & I believe Fraser can be more dangerous if he gets himself right.??

*Goldsack so unlucky, but we cant have O'Brien, Maxwell & Toovey as well as Goldsack in the same team.??

*Blair although very good, you can't have someone so inexperienced in the team with the finals around the corner, same goes with Rounds.??

*Medhurst well he may be able to come in, if Dick or Davis struggle through form & fitness. But he is a shadow of his former self & doesn't look like it.??

*N. Brown is coming back from injury, but Presti has his position??.

*O'Bree well he is done & will struggle to play another senior game.

*Anthony is also unlucky, but Dawes has gone past him up forward & down back he just cant break into the team with Maxwell, O'Brien and Reid in front of him.??

*Maccaffer has played alot this year, but Lockyer is the better option

The question marks we have is whether Davis, Fraser, Reid, Dick, Dawes, Beams & Sidebottom can stand up to the pressure of the Cats & Saints.

If things all fall into place then yes we can win the flag!

“The Ultimate Rd 15 Preview: Port v Collingwood” - DaVe86
?Posted: Tuesday 7 June, 3:40 PM (thebigtip.com.au)

Round 15 opens on Friday night when the Port Adelaide Power host the Collingwood Magpies at AAMI stadium. It is a game between 2 sides in completely contrasting form and ladder positions.

On the one hand, Collingwood is backing up from an 83 point hiding of the West Coast Eagles, whilst Port Adelaide was on the receiving end of a 57 point mauling from the Dockers.

THE WRAP UP? ?

The Power needs to make a stand, but at the moment I can’t see it happening. But if the players have any heart, and have any respect for their coach Mark Williams, they will try their guts out this week. The Power fans should also come out in force. Collingwood fans will, and Port Adelaide definitely need any home ground advantage they can get. Collingwood is a terrific travelling side, so the fans should try and come out to support their struggling side who face a massive test this week.?

But the Power has been responsible for upsets this year. Remember they took out St.Kilda earlier in the year in the wet. So they will take some confidence from the fact that they can match the best sides.? ?

It’s just a matter of sustaining pressure for 4 quarters. Collingwood did it last week, and will do it again this week.? ?

MY TIP: Collingwood by 25.??

"John McCarthy" - afisher?

"While we enjoy recent success and debate who should be in and out, one name that seems to be missing is John McCarthy.

Watched the game with interest yesterday and didn't see a lot, but still feels he has an X-factor, if uninjured he could be important in September.

What are your thoughts, have too many others passed him by???

I still think/hope he can be an important part."

"The biggest issue with McCarthy to date is his body and suspect hammies that haven't allowed him any continuity of performance over the last two seasons.

Personally I still think he's got something positive to offer the side going forward and at 189cm a midfielder of his size is worth persisting with IMO.

If his body can hold up and he can add some more weight to his still skinny frame over the preseason he may surprise a few next year."

"McCarthy's a 20 year old with nine games to his name, he's had a shocking run with injury after coming to the club with known groin issues, FFS give the kid a chance. He may not make much of a contribution this year but get a good pre-season into him and who knows what 2011 and beyond may bring."
