Western Australian Ed Allan (Claremont FC) was the Club’s first selection taken with pick 19 in the 2022 AFL National Draft.

Night two of the Draft saw the Club select two players, South Australian Jakob Ryan (Glenelg FC) with pick 28 and school-teacher Joe Richards (Wangaratta FC) with pick 48.

Today’s Rookie Draft saw the Club recommit to young forward Cooper Murley while Tom Wilson has re-signed with the Club as a Category B Rookie ahead of the 2023 AFL season.

Jack Ginnivan’s 2022 season performance has been rewarded with a contract elevation from a rookie sport to a position on the Club’s primary list.

Murley arrived at the Club at pick 49 in last year’s 2021 AFL National Draft from Norwood but is yet to make his AFL debut. The small forward has spent time developing his football through the Club’s VFL side.

Wilson was selected as a Category B Rookie in 2019 and formerly represented Australia in the national basketball team, the Boomers. The 25-year-old made his AFL debut in Round nine last year, against Sydney, and has gone on to play seven games.

Ginnivan joined Collingwood at pick 13 in the 2020 AFL Rookie Draft and has since made a strong impact to the side’s forward line. Since his AFL debut in Round 19 last year, the 19-year-old has played 28 games and kicked 46 goals for Collingwood.

Following Collingwood’s Round Six ANZAC Day match against Essendon this year, Ginnivan became the first player to win the ANZAC Medal and receive an AFL Rising Star nomination in the same Round when he kicked five goals in the Pies’ 11-point victory.

The Club has one rookie spot available to be filled through the 2023 Supplement Selection Period or AFL Mid-Season Draft.
