Collingwood has today farewelled Steph Chiocci and Jaimee Lambert who will depart for the St Kilda Football Club.

The pair’s departure comes as part of a three-way trade which sees:

  • Tarni White and Grace Campbell arrive from St Kilda and North Melbourne, respectively.
  • The Pies acquire a First Round Pick (Pick 15) from the Kangaroos in exchange for a Second Round Pick (Pick 31) which was given to the Saints.

Drafted by Collingwood with the Club’s second selection (Pick 11) at the inaugural AFLW Draft, Chiocci made history as Collingwood’s first AFLW captain in 2017, a position she held for seven consecutive seasons making her the longest-serving AFLW captain alongside Chelsea Randall from the Adelaide Crows.

Having made her debut in the inaugural AFLW match, the 34-year-old went on to play 55 games in the black and white stripes, kicking eight goals.

Lambert departs for her third AFLW club having arrived at the Pies in 2018 through a trade with the Western Bulldogs.

The 30-year-old made 55 appearances for the Pies across her six seasons and booted a total of 17 goals.

The two-time All-Australian is the only Collingwood AFLW player to win three-Club Best and Fairests.

Lambert was also a member of Collingwood’s 2019 VFLW premiership side and was awarded the Club’s VFLW Best and Fairest Award on two occasions.

Collingwood’s Head of Women’s Football Jess Burger thanked Chiocci and Lambert for their contributions to the Club.

“Both Steph and Jaimee are long-serving, experienced players who have made significant contributions to our women’s football program across several years,” Burger said.

“Steph will forever be Collingwood’s first AFLW captain which is extremely special for our Club. Jaimee has made outstanding on-field contributions for our program which is recognised in the many accolades she has achieved throughout her time at Collingwood.

“On behalf of everyone at Collingwood, we thank Steph and Jaimee.

“As the pair enter the latter years of their careers, this is an opportunity for our Club to secure some exciting young talent who will make both positive on-field and off-field contributions to our program. These changes also allow us to best prepare for both the now and mid-term strategy for our program as we work towards greater on-field success.”

The AFLW’s 2023 Sign and Trade Period opened today and will close on Monday, March 20 at 3pm.
