Ahead of tonight’s 2025 Collingwood Hall of Fame, the Club is excited to unveil the newest showcase in the Club’s Museum.
The Hall of Fame exhibition celebrates all 68 inductees, with more than 250 historical items on display that reflect the rich and vast history of the Collingwood Football Club.
Many of the items on display have never been available for public viewing, including pieces that belong to Collingwood or were donated by former players and their families.
One of the artefacts on display is the original 1940 Brownlow Medal. Due to a tie between Collingwood’s Des Fothergill and South Melbourne’s Herbie Matthews, the AFL presented them with replica medals and kept the original. This is the first time the original medal has left AFL House.
Sitting alongside the Brownlow is Darren Millane’s locker. When Millane passed away in 1991, a property steward closed the locker and it has stayed that way since.
Multiple footballs are also included throughout the exhibition, including those used in remarkable goal-kicking feats by Dick Lee in 1907, Gordon Coventry in 1930 and Peter McKenna in 1969.
Fans can view match-worn guernseys from a range of players and eras from throughout Collingwood’s history, including Peter Daicos, Peter Moore, Des Tuddenham and Murray Weideman.
Rare All-Stars guernseys worn by Barry Price in the 1972 post-season games hosted in London, Athens and Singapore are also on display.
Collingwood President Barry Carp was pleased to unveil the exhibition ahead of the Club’s Hall of Fame event tonight.
“We are so pleased to unveil an exhibition which highlights the players who have left a historic mark on our Football Club,” Carp said.
“With over 250 items on display we welcome our supporters and the whole AFL community to enjoy what is a very special showcase of some of our Club’s greats.
“This exhibition allows us all to reflect and celebrate each individual’s service and contribution to the black and white, as we look forward to inducting further members tonight at our 2025 Hall of Fame event.”
Collingwood Historian and Museum Curator Michael Roberts welcomed fans to explore the wide range of historical items.
“This is an extraordinary collection of items - the most varied and interesting we’ve ever assembled in the Museum,” Roberts said.
“There are items here from the 1890s through to the current day and every one of them helps tell the stories of our greatest ever players.
“It’s a great way to honour our Hall of Fame inductees and I’m sure there will be something here to interest Magpie fans of all ages.”
Fans can view the artefacts at the KGM Centre Museum from today until August next year.
