A close VFL loss was the only blemish over the weekend for the black and white as four out of five sides finished on the winner's list.
The AFL side’s six-point thriller on the Gold Coast was the most memorable of the lot in a heated contest.
A half time melee was the crescendo to two brilliant first quarters of football, with the Pies holding a two-goal lead at the main break.
The black and white came out of the blocks strong in the third term with a goal to Nick Daicos, however the SUNS arrested some momentum to reduce the margin to seven points with a quarter to play.
A tense final quarter saw the game go right down to the wire, but the Pies did enough to hold on and secure an eighth win of 2026.
Daicos finished with 31 disposals, while inspirational leader Brayden Maynard had 15 touches and nine disposals in a starring role in defence.
The win elevated the Pies to outright ninth on the ladder.
Earlier in the day, the Club’s VFLW side extended their unbeaten streak to seven with a four-point win over Carlton.
It was a low-scoring affair with the scores locked at 10 apiece at half time, before a crucial two-goal to none third term set up the win.
Stella Huxtable was brilliant with 33 disposals, while Dom Carbone continued her stellar season with 28 touches and a goal.
The Pies remain unbeaten in 2026, however sit second on the ladder to Williamstown who own a slightly superior percentage.
Also on Saturday, the Pies’ VFL side went down by 21 points to Brisbane, mounting a strong comeback after a slow start.
The black and white conceded six goals to two in the first quarter to immediately be on the back foot, with the Lions leading by 39 points at half time.
That lead had blown out to eight goals by the third term, however a damaging last quarter reduced the margin significantly.
The Pies kicked four goals from nine scoring shots while keeping the Lions to just two behinds, with the burst coming just too late.
It was led by Lachie Sullivan who kicked a goal from 32 touches, while Jakob Ryan’s 2026 season continued on with 28 disposals.
On Sunday, the Pies’ two Wheelchair sides both notched up massive wins to top off a highly successful weekend.
The Championship team were victorious to the tune of 67 points against Hawthorn, with the entire team playing their role in the win.
The Community side were led by a whopping 11 goals to Jack Elliott, helping them on their way to a 95-point win against the Hawks.
The Club’s AFL, VFL and VFLW sides all take on North Melbourne and their aligned teams this weekend, while the Wheelchair sides will observe the bye.
