Collingwood winger Charlotte Brewer is set to make her AFLW debut this Saturday in the Club’s Round 1 clash with Richmond.
Brewer is the granddaughter of former Pie Ross Brewer, who played 47 games and kicked 85 goals for the Pies in the 1970s.
Ross’ older brother Ian Brewer also played in the black and white during the 1950s and 1960s, winning the 1958 Premiership and being named the league’s leading goal kicker that same season.
Now, Brewer will get to continue her grandfather and great-uncle’s legacy as she forges her own path this Saturday afternoon when she makes her AFLW debut.
The 19-year-old impressed in the Club’s official practice match against West Coast last month, accumulating 20 disposals and six intercept possessions from 100% time on ground, highlighting her endurance levels on the wing.
Brewer is one of five debutants already named, with Mattea Breed, Ariana Hetherington, Jemma Rigoni and Dom Carbone having already been named to make their Club debuts against Richmond on Saturday night.
Collingwood’s full team to face Richmond will be released at 6:20pm AEST on Thursday.
