Collingwood Vice-Captain Nick Daicos has capped a remarkable 2026 season, claiming a trio of major honours at the AFL Awards at Centrepiece this evening. 

For a fourth consecutive year, Daicos has been selected in the All-Australian team as well as being recognised as both the AFL Players’ Association’s Most Valuable Player and the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year Award. 

Daicos has now taken out the AFLPA MVP award for a second year in a row while breaking the record for total votes polled in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award with a total of 147 votes. 

This surpasses Dustin Martin’s 122 votes recorded in his historic 2017 campaign – with Daicos having polled 125 with a month remaining in the home and away season.

The trifecta of awards is off the back of Daicos’ 22 matches throughout 2026, where he averaged 34.9 disposals, 10.7 contested possessions, 5.7 clearances and hit the scoreboard for 24 goals. 

Daicos spoke on the honour of claiming the awards. 

“It’s a real honour to be recognised tonight alongside so many of my peers. There’s so much talent across the competition and it’s a privilege to be celebrated alongside so many of you,” Daicos said. 

“I see first-hand the work we all put in every single week to get better, so I want to thank my teammates, coaches and staff who support our whole team week in, week out to perform.” 

Senior Coach Craig McRae congratulated Daicos on his incredible season. 

“Nick is the ultimate competitor and these three awards tonight are great recognition for the season he has had,” McRae said. 

“We are incredibly proud of what he has achieved and even more so for the way he approaches his game in all phases. On-field and off-field, Nick sets the standard at our Club and is a wonderful leader. We want our program not just to develop great players, but incredible people and Nick really represents that. 

“The whole of Collingwood congratulates Nick on what he has accomplished this year.”
