Collingwood’s High Performance Manager Bill Davoren believes the maturing Magpies will this summer face their most gruelling preseason in recent years.

Davoren told the club's Member Forum on Thursday that he intends on pushing the players harder than he has in his first three seasons at the club.

“We took a significant step in 2014, we consolidated on that in 2015 and we have got weeks where we will take them out of their comfort zone in 2016,” Davoren said.

“We’ve got a number of camps planned over the next six to eight weeks and there will be a series of challenging experiences that will improve our resilience.”

Collingwood’s first-to-fourth year players will on Monday embark on week-long camp at Falls Creek.

They returned to the club yesterday to complete their first training session in the heat at the Holden Centre.

“Former Brisbane Lion Jack Crisp won the 2km time-trial, while recruits Adam Treloar and James Aish were restricted to light duties,” reported Clark.

The remainder of Collingwood’s list return to training on Monday 23 November.
