Young Collingwood midfielder Jack Crisp has carried on from his promising 2015 by taking out the Magpies' first time trial of the pre-season.

The 22-year-old took an early lead in the Pies' two-kilometre run at the Holden Centre on Monday morning in summery conditions before crossing the line first.

Others to perform well were Jamie Elliott and Tim Broomhead, while ex-Greater Western Sydney defender Tim Golds also impressed.

Golds, 22, has been granted permission to train with the Magpies in the lead up to the National Draft on 24 November.

Not all players partook in the run, owing to training programs tailored to each individual.

Crisp had an impressive first season as a Magpie after crossing from the Brisbane Lions at the end of 2014 as part of the Dayne Beams trade.

He was one of four Pies to play every game in 2015 and placed third in the best and fairest behind Scott Pendlebury and Dane Swan.

Crisp also took out 'Gavin Brown Desire Indicator Award' at the best and fairest in October for topping the list for desperate acts and one-percenters.

The Pies' first-to-four-year players resumed training on Monday as the youngsters of 10 clubs officially began their pre-seasons across the country.
