EXCITING Collingwood rookie Marley Williams is a chance to make his senior debut against Adelaide on Saturday night after being upgraded for the injured Luke Ball.

Williams, 18, has trained with the senior squad in recent times and was talked up by coach Nathan Buckley in the lead up to Anzac Day.

"Marley's competitiveness and leg speed has been encouraging," Buckley said then.

"He's a real go-getter and if he was called upon, I have no doubt he'd be able to stand up on the occasion [of Anzac Day]."

Williams, who is of Maori heritage, impressed in the NAB Cup this year when six of his 10 disposals against the Western Bulldogs were contested and he booted two second half goals.

He didn't play in the VFL side's loss too Bendigo last Saturday but was in the best the week before in the Magpies' 21-point win over Port Melbourne.

He was taken by the Pies at selection No.35 in the 2011 NAB AFL Rookie Draft last December.

At the time, Collingwood's national recruiting manager Derek Hine said the West Australian youngster had shown promise in 2011, having played 13 games for the Claremont Colts and two at WAFL senior level.

"He's a real inside midfielder and he's played a little bit down back at senior level for Claremont and he can certainly go forward as well. He's more of a hard, inside type," Hine said.

The Pies will be forced to make at least two changes at selection on Thursday with Ben Reid (quad) and Dane Swan (hamstring) out for at least a fortnight.
