The 23-year-old, who has been one of Greater Western Sydney's main targets as he comes out of contract at the end of the year, says his manager Paul Connors has returned from holidays and is hopeful a new deal can be struck in the coming months.
"Either way, it would be nice to get it out of the way," Thomas said on Channel Nine's The Footy Show on Wednesday night.
"The club's bigger than me, where I play or what I do, so I think everyone needs to remember that.
"If I can get it out of the way sooner rather than later, I'd be happy to."
His premiership teammate Dane Swan inked a new deal with the Pies last month that secures him as a Magpie until the end of 2014.
At the time, Swan said he would understand if teammates Thomas and vice-captain Scott Pendlebury entertained offers from the Giants given the money involved.
Thomas echoed Swan's thoughts, but said he would like to remain at the club where he made his debut in round one of 2006 against Adelaide.
"Any player would like to be a one-club player, but at the end of the day when offers are on the table, all players must consider them," he said.
"Hopefully for everyone involved the right scenario does play out, which hopefully would be me staying at Collingwood.
"But as I say, until I've signed on the dotted line there will be speculation."
Players targeted by the Giants will have watched Gold Coast's struggles over the past three weeks that have seen the league's newest team lose to Carlton, the Western Bulldogs and Melbourne by an average of 93 points.
Thomas admitted he would find it hard to walk away from the Magpies, who are favourites to win their second straight flag this season and have a deep and talented list, for a side that was bound to find the next few years hard.
"Whether or not you do throw away the success for what would be starting out fresh and working a side up, they're all things we have to consider," he said.
"There's more to life than money and in football it's all about winning premierships."
