COLLINGWOOD defender Alan Toovey says the Magpies' loss to Geelong in last year's Grand Final had been addressed and the club has moved on.
"We've looked over the Grant Final, spoken about it, put it out there, and now we move on," Toovey said.
"From now on, our focus is to win the Grand Final rather than look at last year."
The Magpies open their season with a NAB Cup triangular series against the Western Bulldogs and Greater Western Sydney at Sydney's Blacktown International Sportspark on Saturday, beginning at 7.15pm.
Toovey said the club would miss the experience of Mick Malthouse, who coached the Magpies for 12 years before stepping aside after last season, but Nathan Buckley was ready to step into his shoes.
He said Buckley had learned from Malthouse as both a coach and a player.
"'Bucks' has done his apprenticeship," Toovey said, speaking at the pre-NAB Cup press conference.
He added that the club would benefit from the introduction of new assistant coaches such as Robert Harvey and Ben Hart.
"They'll bring new ideas," he said. "It might be what we need to go that little bit further this year."
Collingwood last year suffered from a lack of depth in key defenders during the Grand Final. Ben Reid was forced to play despite groin and thigh injuries.
The return of Nathan Brown from a knee injury will add to the depth. Toovey said Lachlan Keefe and Shae McNamara were also pressing claims to play as key defenders, but he couldn't see more than two key defenders in the team at any stage.
"I wouldn't have thought so, no. Normally you don't go for three really big guys," he said.
Collingwood's spate of injuries should also pose no serious problems for the Magpies.
"They're one or two-week injuries. I don't think there's any panic at all."
