Collingwood champion Dane Swan has had his 39-disposal performance against Sydney rewarded with four votes in the AFL Coaches Association Player of the Year award.

Nathan Buckley and John Longmire certainly liked the game of Swan, who had five tackles, six clearances and 16 contested possessions among his 39 possessions.

The remarkable game marks the third consecutive week in which Swan has received recognition from the AFL coaches.

Disposal tallies of 36, 41 and 39 have clearly been hard to ignore, with Buckley and his weekly counterpart in the coaches box giving Swan 16 votes across his past three games.

While it is hard to ignore the form of the evergreen 31-year-old, it’s also impossible to discount the performances of Sydney pair Tom Mitchell and Josh Kennedy on Friday night.

The midfielders led all vote-getters in the SCG clash, with Mitchell awarded nine votes for his career-high 41-disposal game.

Kennedy had six less disposals than his less experienced teammate, but moved up to seventh position on the AFL leader board with eight votes.

He sits one position ahead Collingwood captain Scott Pendlebury who once again went without votes in a game where Buckley said he “lowered his colours”.

Steele Sidebottom was the only other Collingwood player to poll as his 31-disposal game received two votes from the coaches.

With the trip to Sydney behind them, the Magpies will return to the MCG on Saturday afternoon to take on Richmond.

The Tigers walked away with a five-point victory when the two sides first met this year in round seven.

One Collingwood player stood out amongst an array of Tigers in the AFLCA Player of the Year award on that day. His name – Dane Swan.
