Collingwood have made two selections in the 2025 AFL Mid-Season Draft, landing 23-year-old midfielder Roan Steele with Pick 8 and 196cm key forward Noah Howes with Pick 15.

The Pies went into the night with two picks after a pair of list spots opened due to long term knee injuries to Reef McInnes and Harvey Harrison.

With their first selection of the evening Collingwood selected Roan Steele. Averaging 21.1 disposals a game for West Perth in the WAFL across 2025, Steele is originally from Frankston and previously played for Casey in the VFL from 2022 to 2024.

With their second selection, the Magpies made the AFL dream of Noah Howes a reality. Howes a 19-year-old tall, kicked three goals in his Round 1 SANFL debut against Adelaide earlier this year, and has continued to impress as the season has progressed including another haul of three goals last Sunday against Glenelg.

After being overlooked for Coates Talent League/NAB League sides, Steele's selection by the Pies is a story of hard work and persistence. Steele has kicked five goals from his seven WAFL matches in 2025.

National Recruitment Manager Shane O'Bree said the Pies were seeking players that could make an instant impact upon arrival.

"Roan's someone we've followed for a while," O'Bree said following the draft.

"His running capabilities, his GPS data is through the roof. He's a player we think can play multiple positions.

"When he starts training and getting familiar with our systems and our program ... we can see Roan hopefully pushing for AFL selection."

Howes starred in last seasons SANFL Under 18's Grand Final where his South Adelaide side won the Premiership, booting three majors.

Known for his contested marking and aerial ability, Howes is the second South Australian key-forward drafted by the Pies in successive years after drafting Charlie West in last year's National Draft.

"He's one of those tall forwards that just works really hard," O'Bree said of Howes.

"We feel getting him into a full-time program ... he's only going to get bigger, stronger and fitter.

"We think he'll complement our forward group."

He hails from the same SANFL Club as Beau McCreery, joining a host of other South Australians at Collingwood including Craig McRae, Oleg Markov, Harvey Harrison and Oscar Steene.
