The Collingwood Football Club has officially launched its upcoming Victorian Wheelchair Football League (VWFL) season with an event held at the KGM Centre earlier this week.

Hosted by loved former Pie, Simon Prestigiacomo, the event comes in the week of Round 1 where Collingwood will take on Essendon at the State Netball & Hockey Centre on Sunday, 17 May from 1pm.

Collingwood AFL athletes Oscar Steene, Tyan Prindable and Charlie West were in attendance to present players from both VWFL divisions – Community and Championship - their 2026 guernseys.

Forward Jack Elliott, a lifelong supporter of the Club, will captain the Community Division side for the first time.

“I’ve been a Pies fan since I was young and now having the chance to give back to the Club you love,it means so much. When you put on the jumper, you just want to do a good job and give back.” Elliott said.

Elliott humbly credited those who paved the way, noting that his leadership style will be inspired by those around him.

“I’ve learned a lot from all of our previous leaders of the team over the years and will continue to learn a lot from Ben [Jankovski].”

Jankovski will continue his captaincy role for the sixth consecutive year in the Championship Division.

“Everyone in the team has some amazing leadership qualities. We've got fantastic players in our teams and we all pitch in. We’re a team full of great leaders.” Jankovski said.

Now in its ninth season, the VWFL has wheelchair teams from five AFL clubs - Richmond, Collingwood, St Kilda, Hawthorn and Essendon - competing across the Championship and Community divisions.
