Collingwood has held onto the top spot on the VFLW ladder after a smashing 67-point win over Williamstown on Saturday.

In the first game this season at the newly refurbished Downer Oval, Aliesha Newman was quick out of the gates for the Magpies, registering the first goal in the opening minute of the match.

Abbi Moloney put on a dominant performance booting four goals and playing a key role in the Pies’ 11.3 (69) to 0.2 (2) victory. Sophie Alexander and Matilda Zander were also powerful up forward with both managing to boot three majors respectively.

Moloney also led the Pies’ disposal-count with 16 and captain Caitlin Bunker was also a strong contributor with 15 touches and 12 tackles.

While the Seagulls were tough at the contest, the Magpies were just too strong and managed to keep them goalless for the match.

Saturday’s win not only marked the Pies' biggest victory of the season, but was also their eighth consecutive win for 2021. They remain the only undefeated side in the league.

The Pies focus now shifts to their round 10 match against North Melbourne on Saturday May 8, 2pm at Arden St.
