Matthew Boyd

One of the Western Bulldogs’ greatest ever players, Boyd played 292 games art AFL level and captained the club between 2011-13.

His crowning moment came in his penultimate season as he played in the Bulldogs’ drought-breaking 2016 premiership, before moving into coaching following his retirement in 2017.

His first coaching position came at the Pies, joining the Club just weeks after his retirement as a development coach.

Spending three seasons at the Pies between 2018-20, Boyd then made the move west to the Fremantle Dockers in October 2020.

Boyd spent four seasons at the Dockers looking after their backline, before it was announced at the end of 2024 he would return to the Pies to be Midfield Coach.

Boyd works closely with Senior Assistant Coach Hayden Skipworth, with the pair working with the Pies’ midfield week in week out.
