Sydney superstar Lance Franklin is confirmed to make his long-awaited return against Collingwood at the SCG on Friday night with both teams unchanged.

Franklin has missed the past four matches with what was initially thought to be a minor hamstring injury but trained strongly on Wednesday night to prove his fitness.

The four-time Coleman medallist kicked 11 goals from the first five games of the season after missing a large chunk of the summer recovering from groin surgery, and while he's been missing over the past month, he'll still be a massive danger for the visiting Magpies.

Co-captain Josh Kennedy is another big inclusion for the home side.

Jordan Roughead or Jeremy Howe loom as Franklin's likely opponent with Darcy Moore (ankle) and Tom Langdon (knee) both absent from the backline.

Franklin's availability is a major boost for the Marngrook game which kicks off Sir Doug Nicholls Round, and fellow indigenous star Daniel Wells is another making a timely return for the Pies.

Jack Madgen is the other in for Collingwood.
